Pixel Devices Get New Features in Google's September Update
Google has rolled out its latest software update for Pixel devices and watches, known as the September 2026 Pixel Drop. This update brings new features to supported phones and watches, including improved Scam Detection and Pause Point functionality.
The Scam Detection feature is now available through the Pixel keyboard starting in the U.S. on Pixel 6 and newer devices. It will display a 'Likely scam' warning chip above the keys if it detects something amiss, protecting users from potential scams in message apps. This feature is also expanding to several other countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
Pause Point, an optional Pixel feature, adds a pause before opening distracting apps. It was first introduced with the Pixel 11 series phones but is now rolling out to Pixel 6 and newer devices as well.
The update also includes improved Pixel VIP features, allowing users to reach out to their VIP contacts more easily. This includes new widget options for calling and texting, glanceable notification badges, and a bottom floating menu for switching between VIPs.
