Pixel HiLight Gets New Colors and Potential Message Support
Google's Pixel HiLight feature is getting closer to its full potential. Recently released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 includes four new color options, bringing the total number of usable colors to nine. This was one of the original plans for the feature, which is exclusive to the Pro version of the Pixel 11 lineup.
The new colors include blue, cyan, green, and orange, in addition to the five already available: pink, purple, teal, white, and yellow. These colors were first mentioned as potential options back in early August.
Another change is hinted at through code in the latest beta update. It appears that Pixel HiLight will soon support messages from favorite contacts, a feature Google promised during the launch of the Pixel 11 series. However, it's unclear if this feature will only cover texts from Google Messages or also include other apps like WhatsApp.
It's worth noting that these changes are still in beta and may not make it to a public release. An APK teardown can predict features that may arrive on a service based on work-in-progress code, but some predicted features don't always see the light of day.
