Pixel Now Playing Update Brings New Features & Interface Tweaks
The latest update to Google's Pixel Now Playing app has brought some significant interface tweaks and new features. The update, version 2026.08.27.x, is rolling out widely via the Google Play Store.
One of the most notable changes is the reintroduction of Recognized Music Notifications. These silent alerts allow users to see what's playing without having to open the app or check the Quick Settings Tile. The notifications can be expanded to jump directly to the History tab and favorite songs.
The update also includes some design tweaks, such as adding dates and times to the Favorites tab, similar to the History feed. Additionally, there are icon and spacing changes in Now Playing Settings.
