Google's recent launch of the Pixel 11 range has triggered an unexpected response from older model owners. The My Pixel app, which provides support and information for Pixel devices, is now sending promotional notifications to some users.

These notifications are not part of the standard Android interface, but rather a feature within the My Pixel app itself. According to Android Authority, several users have reported receiving ads for the new range after resetting their older smartphones to factory settings or opening the My Pixel app.

The notifications can be disabled without blocking other important updates and notifications from the app. To do this, users need to follow a few simple steps: tap and hold the My Pixel icon, open 'About the app', navigate to the 'Notifications' section, and turn off 'New products and offers'. Alternatively, users can disable the app completely in their Android settings.

The new range of Pixel smartphones, including the Pixel 11 Pro XL, features upgraded cameras and Tensor G6 processors. Google unveiled these devices on August 12.
