Pixel Owners: Unlock Your Phone's Hidden Safety Features
Google Pixel devices come equipped with various emergency features that users can enable to stay safe in critical situations. One of these features is Safety Check, which allows users to schedule a safety check-in and notify their emergency contacts if they don't respond.
To set up Safety Check, go to the Personal Safety app, select Safety Check, choose the reason and duration for your check-in, and hit Next. Choose the contacts you want notified in case of an emergency, and hit Start. You can also add medical information and emergency contacts within the Personal Safety app.
Another feature is Emergency SOS, which includes calling emergency services, sharing your location with emergency contacts, and recording video. To set up Emergency SOS, go to Settings > Safety & emergency > Emergency SOS > Start setup. From here, you can add an emergency services number, turn on assisted calling, select contacts to share information with, and enable emergency video recording.
Additionally, users can set up emergency alerts for severe weather, natural disasters, or other local crises under Settings > Notifications > Wireless emergency alerts. Crisis alerts provide localized information with links to Google Search results about the emergency, and earthquake alerts are available in certain areas if enabled.
