Pixel Phone Users Face Variable Support Timelines
Google Pixel phone users can rest assured that their devices will receive software updates for several years. However, the duration of support varies depending on the model.
The older models, including the original Pixel to the Pixel 5 and Pixel 5a, have already reached the end of their update cycle. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro may also be reaching the end of their seven-year promise, with support scheduled to end in October 2026.
On the other hand, newer models such as the Pixel 8 and more recent variants will continue to receive updates until 2030 and 2031 respectively. The latest models, including the Pixel 10 and 11 series, will be supported until around 2032 and 2033.
This means that if your device stays healthy, you can theoretically hold on to it for quite some time. However, Google's support timeline is not the longest in the industry, with Fairphone promising seven years of Android updates and eight years of security patches.
