Pixel Users Get Offline Live Translate, But Only on Latest Models
Google has introduced offline support for its Live Translate feature on Pixel phones. This allows users to translate live conversations without an internet connection, a significant improvement for travelers and those in areas with spotty service.
The new feature is currently only available on the Pixel 9, 10, and 11 devices, leaving older Pixels and other Android devices without offline Live Translate support. This is despite Google's regular Live Translate mode supporting over 70 languages, including English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Hindi, Russian, Swedish, Japanese, and Indonesian.
Offline Live Translate has limitations compared to the online version, with users only able to translate from English to the aforementioned 10 languages. The feature can be set up by heading to Google Translate > Live Translate, choosing a supported language, and downloading the language pack.
