Piyush Goyal pitches India as investment hub to global firms
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal met with top executives from major global firms in New York to promote India as a prime investment destination. The discussions covered insurance, financial services, technology, and other emerging sectors, with Goyal emphasizing regulatory reforms, growing demand, and a robust digital ecosystem.
Goyal urged AIA Group's chairman Mark Tucker and MetLife's CEO Michel A Khalaf to expand their investments in India's insurance and financial services sectors. He highlighted the country's rising demand for insurance coverage and long-term savings, aligning with the government's 'Insurance for All by 2047' vision. The minister also discussed deepening business ties with General Atlantic's CEO William E Ford and IBM's chairman Arvind Krishna, focusing on technology collaboration in AI, cloud infrastructure, and quantum computing.
During his US visit for the G20 Trade Ministers' Meeting, Goyal also engaged with US business leaders in Chicago and addressed the Indian diaspora. He underscored India's large technology talent pool and rapid digital adoption as key opportunities for global firms to scale technology solutions.
