Piyush Goyal Seeks Global Investment Boost for India’s Tech and Finance Sectors
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal engaged in a series of high-level meetings with executives from IBM, AIA Group, General Atlantic, and Met Life during his visit to the US. The discussions centered on enhancing investments, strengthening business ties, and fostering collaboration in key sectors such as insurance, financial services, and technology.
Goyal’s meeting with IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna focused on expanding the company’s presence in India and deepening cooperation in emerging technologies like AI, cloud infrastructure, and quantum computing. Goyal emphasized leveraging India’s talent pool and digital adoption to innovate and scale global solutions.
In his talks with AIA Group Non-Executive Chairman Mark Tucker, Goyal highlighted India’s regulatory reforms and rising demand for insurance as opportunities for global insurers. He aligned the discussions with India’s vision of “Insurance for All by 2047,” underscoring the potential for long-term growth in the financial services sector.
Goyal also met with General Atlantic Chairman and CEO William E. Ford to explore opportunities for deepening the investment firm’s business ties with India. Additionally, he discussed Met Life’s growth prospects in India with President and CEO Michel A. Khalaf, noting the country’s expanding insurance sector and technology talent as key strengths.
The meetings underscored the government’s efforts to attract greater investment and strengthen business linkages with India, aligning with Goyal’s participation in the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting.
