A beloved member of his community, Joseph M. Kantner, passed away on September 11, 2026, at Providence Place in Pottsville. Born on September 7, 1946, Joe grew up in Pottsville and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1965.

He served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Navy before starting a long career as a machine operator at Honeywell in Pottsville. Joe's love for his community was evident through his daily walks, where he would greet friends and take in the sights of St. Clair.

A lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Joe rarely missed a game, and often said that while he loved the team, his wife Shirley was his true love. Sadly, Shirley passed away in 2010, followed by Joe's brother William in 2013.

Joe's funeral will be held on September 17, 2026, at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in St. Clair. The Mass of Christian Burial will be led by Rev. William Glosser, and friends are invited to call before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Clare of Assisi memorial fund.
