Poughkeepsie Duo Arrested After Stealing From Home Depot

A man and woman from Poughkeepsie were arrested after allegedly stealing merchandise from a Home Depot in the Town of Southeast. The incident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the store's parking lot, located at 80 Independent Way.

According to investigators, officers noticed Dennis M. Bussanich and Karleen Carter placing stolen goods into their car. When police approached them, they spotted drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Bussanich, 45, and Carter, 37, were taken into custody and face charges including two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia. Bussanich also faces additional charges for grand larceny and false personation. Carter was charged with conspiracy.

Both individuals were arraigned in the Town of Southeast court, with Bussanich being remanded to Putnam County Correctional Facility while Carter was released on her own recognizance.
