Pre-Devaluation Bora Bora Booking Saves Thousands with American Express Points
A traveler leveraged their American Express Membership Rewards points to book a luxurious vacation in Tahiti and Bora Bora before Hilton devalued its award chart.
The trip consisted of five nights at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui, which was booked using a 1:2 transfer from Membership Rewards to Hilton. The Business Platinum Card also provided a fifth night free. Flights from LAX to Papeete were booked through Qantas with 82,250 points each in business class, while return flights on Air France were premium economy for 65,500 miles per person.
The traveler took advantage of Hilton Diamond status to secure breakfast and an upgrade to a private pool bungalow. However, inter-island flights cost $1,009.57 total. The trip's affordability was largely due to pre-devaluation pricing; post-devaluation, similar redemptions would require more points or cash.
