Prominent Tech Executive and Philanthropist John Eldon Steuri Passes Away at 87
John Eldon Steuri, a prominent technology executive and business leader, passed away on August 30, 2026. He was the retired President and CEO of Systematics, which he led for eight years, growing the company from $160 million to almost one billion in annual revenues.
Steuri's career spanned over four decades, including a 24-year tenure at IBM, where he rose through the ranks to become Vice President of Operations for the Western half of the US. He was recruited by Jack Stephens, founder and major shareholder of Systematics, who sought his expertise in growing the company.
Steuri's commitment to philanthropy was deeply rooted in a promise he made with his wife Grace after their home was destroyed in a tornado in 1966. They vowed to give back to their community, which led them to establish the Steuri Family Endowment at the Arkansas Community Foundation. Throughout his life, Steuri served on numerous boards and organizations, including the United Way, CARTI Cancer Center, and Baptist Health Foundation.
Steuri's legacy extends beyond his business accomplishments. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his family described him as a man of great integrity and kindness.
