Proton Expands Easy Switch Tool to Tackle Microsoft 365 Migration Fears

Switzerland's Proton has expanded its Easy Switch for Business migration tool to support Microsoft 365 migrations, in addition to Google Workspace. This move comes as European business leaders express growing concerns about relying on US tech vendors, with a recent survey showing that 74% of EU executives are worried that their access could be cut off.

The Proton Easy Switch now covers email, contacts, and calendars migration from Microsoft 365, with the company promising a seamless transition process. Admins can choose which data to migrate, connect to the relevant M365 account, and select user accounts to transfer without disrupting users' productivity.

Proton's Chief Operating Officer Raphael Auphan explained that many IT leaders underestimate the complexity of switching email providers, thinking it would take months of disruption. He emphasized that Proton's Easy Switch is designed to be 'non-disruptive,' allowing users to continue using their existing Microsoft 365 accounts during the transition.

Notably, while Proton offers a simple switch for emails and other core services, it does not provide an automatic transfer for file storage. This limitation may affect businesses looking to completely switch from Microsoft 365 to Proton's Workspace.
