Prysmian North America Secures Contract for Amazon Data Center Cable Supply
Prysmian North America has secured a contract to supply electrical cables for an Amazon data center near Columbus, Ohio. The company will collaborate with Rio Tinto on this project, which involves using low-carbon aluminum supplied by Rio Tinto.
The ELYSIS technology used in the cables is designed to reduce carbon emissions and could drive broader adoption and pricing power if successful. This contract marks an early-stage proof point for Prysmian's push into sustainability-linked solutions with hyperscalers like Amazon.
The electrical cables will be manufactured at a Missouri plant, which may help lift plant utilization and margins. However, the contract value, volume, or multi-site rollouts with Amazon or additional hyperscalers are not yet disclosed, which could be a larger catalyst for Prysmian's growth in this area.
