PepsiCo has awarded its $1.7 billion global media account to Publicis Groupe, ending Omnicom's long-term partnership and paving the way for a unified media strategy across markets.

The move is part of PepsiCo's efforts to leverage AI and technology to enhance its marketing operations. The company is reviewing how it uses artificial intelligence to improve both internal and external marketing activities.

Publicis will now handle PepsiCo's global media account, having recently won the Coca-Cola account in North America. However, Publicis has pulled out of Coca-Cola's global pitch, leaving WPP and Omnicom to compete for the business.

PepsiCo spokespersons stated that the company is expanding its partnership with Publicis globally across its food and beverage portfolio to accelerate transformation and establish a fully integrated unified media operating model.
