Publishers Sue OpenAI, Microsoft Over Alleged Copyright Theft
Over two dozen regional and specialty publishers have sued OpenAI Inc. and Microsoft Corp. in New York federal court, alleging that they copied hundreds of thousands of copyrighted articles without permission.
The lawsuits claim that the companies used these articles to train products including ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot.
This is not the first time that OpenAI and Microsoft have faced allegations of copyright infringement. In 2026, a group of publishers sued the companies over similar claims.
