Putnam County Residents Raise Concerns Over Proposed Google Data Center
Residents in Putnam County are voicing concerns about the potential environmental impact of a proposed Google data center project. The facility, which is planned for the Buffalo area, could emit up to hundreds of tons of air pollutants, according to some estimates.
Jeanette DiDomenico, who lives on a 48-acre farm near the proposed site, expressed her worries about the potential health effects of the data center's emissions. 'The last thing I want is a data center that’s four minutes away from my beautiful farm that can possibly give me more cancer,' she said during a recent Putnam County Commission meeting.
Other residents shared similar concerns, citing the risk of exacerbated respiratory problems and other health issues. Ashley Armstrong, who has been diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, a chronic neuromuscular disease worsened by air pollution, warned that the data center's emissions could be 'fatal.'
