Qantas Takes Off for Sin City: Non-Stop Flights to Las Vegas Launch December 29
Qantas will launch its new non-stop route from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) to Las Vegas' Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) on December 29. The 15-hour flight, operated by a Boeing 787-9 aircraft, will run three times a week during the first season.
The airline chose LAS as it has seen significant demand from passengers flying between SYD and LAS. In the past 12 months, over 51,000 travelers have flown locally between the two cities, mostly via Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
Qantas will capture a share of passengers traveling from other Australian airports to Las Vegas, with Melbourne Airport (MEL), Brisbane Airport (BNE), and Auckland being key targets. The airline aims to fill around 6,464 seats during the first season, which is relatively low given the expected demand.
