Quarra Stone Company has completed a monumental stone art installation at JPMorgan Chase's new global headquarters in Midtown Manhattan. The project, titled 'A Parallel Nature,' was designed by artist Maya Lin and features 239 unique granite elements weighing up to 12,000 pounds each.

The installation, which spans from 7 to 28 inches in thickness, translates geological strata into a tactile, sculptural composition that anchors the tower to its site. Inspired by exposed Manhattan bedrock and schist formations found throughout Central Park, the artwork was fabricated by Quarra Stone Company using CNC-machining and hand-finishing techniques.

The project's structural engineers, design team, and construction crew worked closely with Maya Lin's studio and Quarra Stone to ensure the installation met stringent structural, fabrication, and performance requirements. The result is a distinctive work of large-scale public art that has received attention from publications like The New York Times.
