Raji Abandons Google Calendar for Android App with Advanced Task Features
Oluwaniyi Raji, a tech content specialist, used Google Calendar to keep his tasks and events for two years. He experienced a problem when he missed an important work deadline because it looked the same as birthdays and meetings in the calendar.
The tasks in Google Calendar are shown on the calendar alongside events, but they lack features like subtasks, tags, and priorities. A deadline field was added to tasks, but it sends only one notification at 9 a.m., which is easy to miss among birthday reminders.
Raji installed Tasks.org, an Android app built on the original source code of Astrid, which Yahoo bought in 2013 and shut down. The Google Play version has some features locked behind a subscription, but Raji installed the F-Droid version, which is free with all features unlocked.
