RBC Sees P&G Market Share Gain Amid Steady Demand Indicators
RBC's US Market Share Tracker for Procter & Gamble (P&G) is showing improvement, according to recent data. The bank's tracker indicates a 25-basis-point weighted share gain so far this quarter through August 9.
This increase in market share is significant because P&G sells everyday staples, and small shifts can signal whether shoppers are choosing its brands more often or if sales are being propped up by short-term retailer ordering. RBC's tracker suggests a turn from the June quarter, when share slipped 9 basis points.
The gains in market share are led by Baby Care, Fabric Care, and Hair Care, while Family Care, Grooming, and Oral Care still lag behind. The bank also notes that it doesn't expect a repeat of last quarter's 'sell-in' versus 'sell-out' mismatch, which can indicate healthier inventories and more accurate reported sales.
