Red Wing's Downtown Main Street Earns 10th Straight Year of Main Street America Accreditation
Red Wing's Downtown Main Street has earned its 10th consecutive year as a Main Street America Accredited program, continuing its streak since 2010. The designation recognizes the community's efforts in bolstering its small-town economy through various initiatives.
Main Street America measures success through four pillars: Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion, and Organization. Downtown Red Wing has demonstrated success in all these areas, injecting $14.4 million of private money and $13.7 million in public investment since 2010. The Downtown Philanthropic Collaborative and Port Authority have also played a significant role in funding downtown projects.
In recent years, efforts to update the downtown area's logo have brought cohesion to the district, while improved communication between business owners and stakeholders has contributed to its success.
As an Accredited program, Downtown Main Street will now have easier access to grants offered by corporations like General Motors, T-Mobile, and American Express. The organization also provides guidance on communicating with local governments to support local businesses.
