Reddit Users Customize Gemini to Mimic Google Assistant’s Direct Style
Google Assistant users missing its straightforward approach may find a solution in Gemini. Reddit users are compiling a set of instructions to make Gemini behave more like the classic Assistant. The goal is to strip away conversational elements and focus on direct responses.
One key instruction is to "Give short, immediate, and direct responses, omit conversational filler, greetings, pleasantries, polite sign-offs, and unnecessary transitions." This aims to remove Gemini’s personality, making it more suitable for an Assistant-like experience. For example, setting a timer would simply result in a response like "Timer set for 10 minutes."
To apply these instructions, users can open the Gemini app, go to Settings, then Personal Intelligence, and add the text under Instructions for Gemini. The same can be done via desktop through a provided link. Users are encouraged to contribute additional instructions to refine Gemini’s behavior further.
