Redmond Becomes Hub for Amazon's Central Oregon Delivery Network
Amazon's first Central Oregon distribution hub has opened near the Redmond Airport, aiming to boost same-day and next-day shipping in the region. The $4 billion initiative will create over 300 jobs at the facility, which is projected to process more than 300,000 packages a week during the holiday season.
Will Pon, delivery manager at the Redmond Amazon facility, said the new hub has already exceeded initial projections for customer demand. 'Our initial projection for customer demand have been exceeded in every sense of the word here these last few months,' he noted.
The facility currently employs around 80 people and is still hiring. Employees receive overnight shipments from Woodburn and Portland, working from 4 to 11:30 a.m. to unload and reorganize stock. Pon said they have no plans to use drones or automations in the delivery process at this time.
