RedVDS Cybercrime Marketplace Taken Down by Microsoft-Google Partnership
A massive cybercrime marketplace known as RedVDS was taken down by Microsoft and Google after they shared threat data via the Global Signal Exchange (GSE), a non-profit organization. The platform provided virtual machines with free software, which were used to launch scams and directed attacks on over 130,000 organizations between September and December 2025.
The RedVDS marketplace was discovered through signal sharing between Microsoft and Google, which revealed the scale of the cybercrime operation. The platform offered virtual machines for $24 a month, with some users compromising 191,000 Microsoft email accounts during this period.
The Global Signal Exchange played a crucial role in taking down RedVDS, allowing trusted partners to share threat data securely and quickly. Emily Taylor, CEO at Oxford Information Labs and Co-Founder of the GSE, noted that 'fraud does not respect company boundaries' and emphasized the importance of collaboration in combating cybercrime.
