Researchers Demand Google-Style Platform for Monitoring AI Usage Trends
The growing adoption of AI for information-seeking has raised concerns about related risks. Risks include psychological and medical impacts, malicious use by bad actors, and societal risks if systemic problems compound.
Auditing chatbot responses is becoming more common, with various methods for scaling up both the prompting and analysis. However, auditing answers to prompts gives limited insight into societal risks and understanding these risks requires data on how people really use AI tools to seek information in enough detail to quantify trends while preserving user privacy.
A Google Trends-like platform could provide this data. Such a platform would be based on the model of Google Trends, which provides insight into trending searches and allows users to track the volume of searches for particular topics or exact keywords.
