Richardson Residents Bemoan Drone Noise from Amazon's Prime Air Facility
Residents in Richardson, Texas, have been complaining about noise from Amazon's drone delivery program. The Amazon Prime Air facility opened in December 2025 and has been flying drones over nearby homes throughout the day, particularly on weekends.
Scott Bratcher, a resident who lives less than half a mile from the facility, said it sounds like 'a beehive coming right across, right above our houses.' He added that the flights are nonstop during the day and even more frequent on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Bratcher and other residents have started tracking drone activity using antennas to monitor flight paths in real-time. Some areas see hundreds of flights a day, while others barely notice any.
Amazon disputed concerns about noise, stating that it is comparable to a passing car and only accounts for less than 1% of customer service inquiries. City leaders have created a resource page for residents to submit complaints to Amazon and the Federal Aviation Administration.
