Rivian Sued by Honeywell Over Alleged Patent Infringement

Rivian Automotive Inc., an Irvine-based electric vehicle manufacturer, is facing a lawsuit from Honeywell Aerospace over patent infringement. The Torrance-based company alleges that Rivian has used seven patented technologies in its vehicles without permission.

The patents in question cover various features such as vehicle safety monitoring, traffic display systems, autonomous navigation, and software licensing management. According to the suit, Honeywell's aerospace technology can be applied to ground vehicles as well.

Honeywell is seeking monetary damages, an injunction, attorneys' fees, enhanced damages for willful infringement, and a jury trial. The company believes that Rivian's use of its patented technologies constitutes patent infringement.
