Riyadh Air Debuts First Boeing 787-9 in Indigo Livery
Riyadh Air has revealed its first production Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registered HZ-RXAK, showcasing the airline’s distinctive indigo and lavender livery. The livery, first unveiled in June 2023 at King Khalid International Airport, is part of Riyadh Air’s brand identity, inspired by Saudi culture and natural landscapes. The aircraft, described as the “Nile Blue Boeing 787 Dreamliner,” was highlighted in a social media post on October 4, 2026.
According to ch-aviation data, Riyadh Air has received eight Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with the first one painted in the indigo livery. The design consultancy PriestmanGoode created two livery concepts for the airline, including the indigo scheme and an iridescent paint treatment. The indigo livery incorporates visual references to Saudi culture, such as Arabic script-inspired curves and colors from the Saudi desert.
The indigo livery was previously displayed on a promotional Boeing 787 between June 2023 and October 2024, including at the Paris Air Show. However, the latest aircraft, HZ-RXAK, is the first production model to feature the design. Riyadh Air described the livery as a bold statement, combining modern aesthetics with cultural significance, and pushing boundaries in aviation branding.
