Riyadh Air Launches New Route to Jakarta
Riyadh Air is expanding its global network with the addition of Jakarta, Indonesia, as its 16th destination. The airline will launch a three-times-a-week service between Riyadh and Jakarta starting November 16, 2026, from Riyadh, and November 17, 2026, from Jakarta. The flights, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays (RX0869), and Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays (RX0870), will be serviced by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
The new route is expected to strengthen ties between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, two G20 nations, while supporting growing business, tourism, and religious travel. Bilateral trade between the countries reached $6.6 billion in 2025 and $2.6 billion in the first half of 2026 alone, highlighting the economic significance of this connection.
Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating that it will provide seamless access to the Kingdom and the airline's expanding network. He also highlighted the airline's commitment to delivering an exceptional, digitally led experience and authentic Saudi hospitality.
In related news, Riyadh Air's first Boeing 787-9 aircraft with an indigo livery has emerged from the paint shop at Boeing’s facility in Charleston, South Carolina. This distinctive livery will be featured on every tenth aircraft in the airline's fleet, marking its growth. The aircraft is expected to be delivered in the near future, with more destinations anticipated to be announced as additional aircraft join the fleet.
