Riyadh Air Orders Additional Boeing Dreamliners in Major Fleet Expansion

Riyadh Air has ordered 28 additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners, including 20 of the larger 787-10 variant. This purchase is part of Riyadh Air's goal to serve over 100 destinations by 2030 and will contribute significantly to Saudi Arabia's non-oil GDP.

The airline currently operates six 787-9 jets and has taken delivery of these aircraft. The introduction of the 787-10, which can carry 50 more passengers than the 787-9, is expected to increase capacity while reducing fuel consumption by 25% compared to previous models.

Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas noted that guests have been impressed with the experience onboard the current fleet and that the introduction of the 787-10 will strengthen the airline's ability to accommodate growing passenger demand. By operating both the 787-9 and 787-10, Riyadh Air will benefit from shared flight deck systems, maintenance procedures, and pilot training.
