Road Trippin' to Disneyland: A Family's Vintage Adventure
In the summer of 1955, four siblings embarked on an epic road trip from Beverly Park to Anaheim, California, in their family's 1951 Chrysler sedan.
Their destination was Disneyland, which had just opened its gates to the public. The children were huge fans of Walt Disney's 'The Adventures of Davy Crockett' series and couldn't wait to experience the magic firsthand.
To keep cool during the long journey, their father acquired a vented metal box called a 'Swamp Cooler,' which was hooked onto the passenger side front window. However, it often blasted more water than mist, earning the nickname 'OLD FACEFULL.'
