Robot Setup Time Cut in Half with AI-Powered Auto Engineering
A Redmond-based robotics software startup, General Robotics, has made significant strides in streamlining the process of onboarding robots in industrial settings. Founded by former Microsoft researchers, including CEO Ashish Kapoor, the company's platform, GRID, has reduced the time it takes to get a new robot up and running from about a month to as little as two hours.
The company's Auto Engineering system allows each onboarded robot and diagnosed failure to feed back into the system, speeding up the next deployment. This approach enables General Robotics to 'magnify and accelerate each engineer's capability,' according to Kapoor.
General Robotics has roughly a dozen customers across various industries, including manufacturing, logistics, energy, and defense, with revenue in the millions of dollars. The company has raised nearly $34 million in funding, primarily from investors such as Construct Capital, Khosla Ventures, and Nvidia.
