Roche Holding AG has reported promising results for its experimental lung cancer drug, divarasib, in a late-stage study. The treatment outperformed two competing medicines from Amgen Inc. and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., showing that patients with a specific form of lung cancer lived nearly six months longer when using divarasib.
The study focused on patients with non-small cell lung cancer that had spread due to a genetic mutation. These patients had already undergone other treatments, including chemotherapy, before being administered divarasib. The drug's superior performance positions it as a potential blockbuster in the pharmaceutical market.
Divarasib was compared against Amgen's sotorasib and Bristol-Myers Squibb's adagrasib. The results highlight Roche's ability to develop innovative treatments that could significantly impact patient outcomes in advanced lung cancer cases.
