Russia Unveils Domestic Browser to Replace Google Chrome

Russia is developing a new internet browser called CryptoPro Browser to support domestic encryption algorithms approved by the Federal Security Service (FSB).

CryptoPro, a Russian provider of cryptographic information protection systems under US sanctions, is behind the project.

The browser will be incorporated into version 6.0 of the company's CryptoPro CSP cryptographic software and will support integration with its plugin.

According to CryptoPro CEO Stanislav Smyshlyaev, 'It will make it possible to provide secure access to websites using Russian cryptographic algorithms, which is also necessary in all use cases requiring cryptographic protection in accordance with the requirements of Russia's FSB.'
