S&P 500 Profit Surge Hits 50%
The S&P 500 is on track for its seventh consecutive quarter of double-digit profit growth, with blended earnings surging approximately 50% from a year earlier. This marks the strongest expansion since the pandemic recovery in 2021.
About 86% of reporting companies have beaten analyst estimates, according to FactSet, fueling record highs across major indexes. Energy sector profits soared more than 147% on elevated oil prices tied to the Iran conflict.
Amazon and Alphabet alone accounted for roughly 71% of the increase in S&P 500 blended earnings since July, according to FactSet analyst John Butters.
