S7 Airlines Suffers Second Boeing 737 Runway Overrun in Six Weeks

S7 Airlines has suffered its second Boeing 737 runway overrun in less than six weeks. A cargo aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 freighter, overran the runway while landing at Norilsk Alykel Airport (NSK) in Russia on August 8, 2026.

The flight was arriving from Moscow Domodedovo Airport (DME), carrying two crew members and cargo. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although the aircraft suffered minor damage.

Photos of the scene show the green S7 freighter sitting on paved concrete beyond the runway end lights.

Russian authorities have opened investigations into the incident, examining whether the airline complied with aviation safety requirements and determining the circumstances surrounding the overrun.

This is the second 737 runway overrun for S7 in less than six weeks. Another Boeing 737-800 overran a runway while landing at Mirny Airport (MJZ) on June 30, carrying 173 passengers and six crew members.
