Sabbatini Soars with Bogey-Free Round to Take Boeing Classic Lead
Rory Sabbatini of Slovakia fired a bogey-free round to take the lead at the Boeing Classic on Friday in Snoqualmie, Wash. His scorecard showed seven birdies and no mistakes for a total of 7-under-par 65.
This is Sabbatini's first PGA Tour Champions event since turning 50 on April 2 and making his debut two weeks later. He now enters the weekend with a comfortable lead over Jerry Kelly and Steven Alker, who are tied for second place after shooting one bogey each in their rounds.
Sabbatini credited the course's simplicity as a key factor in his success, saying 'You know the keys, the things you have to do, just put the ball in the fairway.' He also acknowledged that the greens are tricky and the bunkering is severe.
