SageMaker Unified Studio Now Directly Connects to Power BI

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has simplified the process of connecting Microsoft Power BI to Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio, eliminating the need for third-party bridges. The new authentication modes in the Amazon Athena ODBC driver allow direct connections, reducing complexity and licensing costs.

A previous post demonstrated a connection method using a third-party ODBC-JDBC bridge, but this new approach removes the need for extra components and ongoing maintenance.

UC Irvine, a top-ten U.S. public research university, has successfully implemented this new connection method to provide governed data to their analysts through Power BI.
