Salesforce and TikTok Team Up to Transform Social Shopping
Salesforce Commerce Cloud has partnered with TikTok to redefine social commerce, enabling brands to turn TikTok scrolls into direct sales. According to the Salesforce Shopping Index, 27% of consumers have made purchases on social shopping platforms in the past three months, with Gen Z and Millennials leading the trend at 48% and 37%, respectively. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between product discovery and seamless transactions, allowing merchants to retain control over customer data and relationships.
Key features of the partnership include TikTok Shop, which syncs directly with Commerce Cloud catalogs, and TikTok Buy Direct, which supports frictionless checkout through Buy Direct ads while keeping merchants as the record-keepers. The integration also introduces the TikTok Shopping Assistant, providing brands with a centralized platform to manage their product catalogs. These tools aim to minimize checkout friction, unify operations, and unlock new revenue channels by leveraging agentic product searches and AI-powered surfaces on TikTok.
The technology behind this integration includes Commerce Connect, which makes product catalogs discoverable on TikTok, and the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), which processes transactions without redirecting users. The phased rollout of these experiences is expected to begin in Q1 2027, with the TikTok Shop integration becoming generally available in January 2027. This partnership marks a significant step in blending shopping and content, empowering brands to meet customers where they are without compromising data control or brand experience.
