Salesforce AWU Experiment Sees Uncertainty Amid Rapid Growth
Salesforce has been experimenting with its Agentic Work Unit (AWU) as a way to track Agentforce adoption. Although reported numbers have grown across various public statements, it hasn't made its way into official customer-facing pricing schemes yet.
The introduction of the control plane in Salesforce's Enterprise AI Harness shows where this might be heading. The company began teasing progress on an internal measurement metric called AWU earlier this year for characterizing Agentforce adoption across various use cases.
Agentforce annual recurring revenue exceeded $1.5 billion in Q2, up over 240% year-over-year, alongside 7 billion AWUs delivered to date and 3.2 billion in the quarter.
Salesforce President Patrick Stokes suggested that they were even experimenting with inviting customers to develop their own licensing schemes as they transition from consumption models to value-based pricing.
