Salesforce Backs 8 Early-Stage Carbon Removal Projects with $24 Million
Salesforce is pushing ahead in its efforts to reduce carbon emissions through early-stage carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects. The company has made significant investments, with a total of $100 million in durable CDR credits by fiscal 2031 being the goal.
This includes pre-purchasing 3,661 tonnes of durable CDR from eight suppliers through its partner Milkywire. These projects span various technologies such as direct air capture (DAC), ocean alkalinity enhancement, and biomass storage.
The move is part of Salesforce's broader climate strategy to use durable carbon removal credits to offset remaining emissions by 2040. The company has also been investing in early-stage CDR suppliers through partners like Milkywire and Frontier since FY25.
