Salesforce Bets on Proprietary Context for Enterprise AI Advantage
Enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly accessible to companies, but Salesforce believes that what truly sets apart businesses from each other is not the AI model itself, but rather the proprietary context and controls they can securely connect to it.
The company introduced its Enterprise AI Harness on September 11, a composable architecture designed to give agents shared business context while applying governance and security controls. The Harness draws on various technologies, including Data 360, Informatica, MuleSoft, Agent Fabric, Tableau, and Salesforce Guardian.
The AI Control Plane is another new feature aimed at giving enterprises centralized visibility and control over their own and third-party AI agents and systems. This plane will allow companies to discover and register AI agents, establish identity and policy, manage lifecycles, evaluate performance, observe outcomes, and control costs across Salesforce and other platforms.
Salesforce President and Chief Platform and Engineering Officer Rohan Kumar emphasized that the key differentiator for enterprises in this space is not which AI model they choose but rather 'the trusted, proprietary context it brings to that intelligence, starting with the customer, and its ability to turn that context into action securely.'
