Salesforce Defies Software Doom with Strong Results and Anthropic Tie-Up
Salesforce has released stronger-than-expected financial results, raising its full-year revenue and profit forecasts. The company's partnership with Anthropic is deepening, with the introduction of 'Claudeforce', a new initiative that combines Anthropic's Claude AI models with Salesforce's customer data, applications, and workflows.
The agreement expands on their June announcement and aims to counter concerns about the impact of generative AI on traditional software businesses. Instead of threatening its core business, Salesforce sees AI as a growth engine, enabling the development of autonomous agents that can perform tasks in sales, customer service, and other areas.
Agentforce is at the center of this strategy, which involves moving beyond simple AI assistants to more sophisticated models capable of carrying out complex tasks. The company's results suggest that business is gaining scale, with Agentforce and Data 360 generating nearly $3.9 billion in annual recurring revenue.
