Salesforce Hands Over Slack Controls to Anthropic's AI Model
Salesforce has unveiled Claudeforce, a deep integration between its Slack platform and Anthropic's AI model, Claude. The partnership gives Claude the default role as the brain behind Slackbot, handling tasks such as natural language queries in Slack channels and orchestrating complex enterprise workflows through Agentforce.
The financial commitment from Salesforce is substantial, with an equity stake exceeding $300 million and plans to spend another $300 million on Anthropic tokens in 2026 alone. This brings the total financial commitment north of $600 million.
According to Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, the company originally wanted to invest in OpenAI but pivoted to Anthropic after Microsoft's massive investment changed the calculus.
The integration goes beyond a simple chatbot upgrade with the introduction of the 'Salesforce in Claude' plugin, which ships with 37 prebuilt skills focused on sales functions. This includes pipeline management, account research, forecasting, and data entry tasks that are common in CRM workflows.
