Salesforce's customer relationship management services experienced a major outage on Wednesday, causing delays and access issues for hundreds of instances across the US, UK, Germany, France, India, and Japan.

The issue was attributed to an internal login service that became overwhelmed by requests, using up server resources and leading to wider service disruptions. Salesforce engineers identified the root cause as a higher load on the core part of the service and subsequently implemented a fix.

The outage began at 3:50 am ET and was still ongoing at 6:56 am when the company reported that its engineers had found a solution, which they then rolled out to affected regions. This incident occurred as Salesforce is pushing forward with its AI ambitions, having recently announced new partnerships with Nvidia, Amazon, and Alphabet.
