The predicted 'SaaS-pocalypse', where AI agents would supposedly replace employees and make software-as-a-service (SaaS) subscriptions obsolete, has been debunked by Salesforce's recent quarterly earnings call.

Salesforce, a leading SaaS company, reported revenue growth of 11% year-over-year to $11.3 billion, with current remaining performance obligations increasing 14%. The company also raised its full-year outlook.

The real surprise came from Salesforce's AI products, Agentforce and Data 360, which saw annual recurring revenue grow by over 210% year-over-year to nearly $3.9 billion. Customers used Agentforce and Slack to complete 3.2 billion Agentic Work Units during the quarter, up 97% sequentially.

Salesforce President Robin Washington said, 'AI is amplifying the power, reach, and value of our platform.' This aligns with the company's strategy of charging for completed work, rather than per-seat subscriptions.
