Salesforce Sees AI-Driven Future with Claudeforce Partnership
Salesforce executives made a strong case at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026 that AI is transforming how enterprise software is bought, used, and priced. Bill Patterson, president and chief commercial officer, and Rob Seaman, Slack leader, argued that customer demand drove their new Claudeforce partnership with Anthropic's Claude AI, which supports a shift toward agent-driven work.
The executives described a future where Slack serves as the operating system for work, AI agents handle routine tasks, and customers pay more often for outcomes rather than seats. They acknowledged concerns that AI vendors could bypass Salesforce or reduce it to a database layer, but said enterprise software is changing in its favor.
Salesforce commercialized Claudeforce after integrating it into customer workflows, and positioned Slack as the main coordination layer for knowledge workers, with an average user keeping the app open 10 hours a day and actively using it 2 hours a day. The company is moving from seat-based pricing to consumption and outcome-based models tied to results such as qualified leads or booked orders.
