Salesforce Shares Slip 3% Amid Wall Street Enthusiasm, Demand for Near-Term Commitments
Salesforce shares fell over 3% on Thursday, trading between $242 and $245, as investors seemed to shrug off a flurry of positive analyst actions following the company's Dreamforce conference. Despite several prominent firms raising their price targets, including Stifel, Canaccord Genuity, and Guggenheim all moving theirs to $300, the stock moved decisively lower.
The decline underscored a gap between Wall Street's enthusiasm for Salesforce's artificial intelligence strategy and the market's demand for more aggressive near-term financial commitments. The company reiterated its fiscal 2030 revenue goal of exceeding $63 billion and kept fiscal 2027 guidance unchanged, only adjusting the projection to the upper bound of its existing forecast range.
Salesforce leadership indicated that organic expansion should accelerate through the latter portion of fiscal 2027 and into subsequent years. However, the company declined to provide formal revenue guidance for fiscal 2028, a decision that likely contributed to the negative market reaction.
